2011 Display

Our 2011 display was a big hit.

Some stats and new items on the display this year:
  • 400 Computer Channels powered by Light-o-Rama
  • 90,000 lights (mostly LED)
  • New Cosmic Color Ribbons for the arches - accounting for 600 more channels on top of the 400 (technically)
  • More Snowfall (dripping snow tubes)
  • 2 New RGB Snowmen lit with RGB Floods (thanks Mom for sewing the material for the snowmen!!!!! - it was a chore)
  • Additional Candy Canes
  • New Mega Tree Support - Thanks to Walter and Jackie Monkhouse for the Portable Hole idea (MagicChristmas.org)
Most guests really liked the Snowfall tubes which we've had now for 3 years in the display and the Cosmic Color Ribbon which is new.

We had more visitors this year than any of the previous years.  Most of that increase is due to word of mouth as Clark went out polling people to see how they heard about the display.  There was also lots of new people as we made the Jacksonville Times Union paper both as the main picture on the front page of the LIFE section and also on Jacksonville.com (the web site for the Times Union).  On the web-site there was a section for the "best displays in Jacksonville" and we were the first one on the list.

You can see the picture from the paper to the right.  We're the top picture.  We were honored.

We also had a visit by Santa this year who visited the kids and also danced to Wizards In Winter.

We were only able to take donations for slightly over a week but the kind people of Jacksonville gave over $300 in that short period of time.

With the construction over on our street, people parked in the center turn lane.  There was even a night when the local police asked the people in the center lane to all leave on a Saturday night.  There was one occassion when we counted over 40 cars in the turn-lane.  Many times the entire front of the sidewalk was filled with people.

We are glad people were able to enjoy the display and celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas.

Until 2012 Christmas, we wish everyone a joyous year ahead.
